How do I?

Apply for intermission

International Students who wish to apply for intermission (approved leave from the University) should read the Intermission Advice for International Award Course Students (232 KB) document for details of the intermission process.

All applications for intermission should be lodged by via StudentConnect.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Once completed, you will need to make an appointment with a Faculty Course Adviser, who will meet with you to give you a new course plan. Please ask your Course Adviser to indicate your new expected completion date on your Enrolment Variation Form. After you have met with a Faculty Course Adviser, you will need to make an appointment to see an International Student Adviser.

You will need to bring all of your supporting documentation to the interview with the International Student Adviser (ISA). If your application is approved, the ISA will cancel your current COE and issue a new COE for you for the trimester in which you will re-commence your study.

Please be advised that intermission can only be applied for on compelling and compassionate grounds. Please read the section 'Can I take a leave of absence (intermission)?' to see what is considered compelling or compassionate circumstances.

(Note: Higher Degree by Research - HDR students do NOT follow the above procedure. HDR students should fill in the online request for intermission for HDR students. ALL other students MUST follow the above procedure.
