- About Deakin
Hi everyone! I'm Jennifer, once of the ISAs at the Melbourne Burwood Campus. I have been involved in international education for the past four years at Deakin University.
I came to study in Melbourne at the age of 14, and after graduating with a degree in Design from RMIT, I secured a position at Deakin, working in both Deakin International and the Division of Student Administration. During my time in these positions, I gained considerable experience in student visa procedure and other general issues relating to international students.
Having also been an international student myself, I really do understand many of the concerns international students face in their day to day lives here in Australia. As a result, I am eager to help and I look forward to providing guidance and advice to our international students.
I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Taiwanese and can understand basic Cantonese and Japanese. I have travelled throughout Europe, the USA, Japan and China and I spend time visiting places that inspire my love of design and architecture.
My advice to international student is tomake the most out of your Deakin experience by exposing yourself to the Australian culture. Get involved, be open-minded, try new things, and really put yourself out there! You will be surprised at how much you will learn and how much fun you are having doing it.
