Schooling for children

Children between 5 and 15 whose parents are here on a student visa are required to pay full fees at the school which they attend. This however does not apply to children whose parents are recipients of an Australian Government-funded scholarship or to dependants of students who are completing a Masters by research or a research doctorate program.

Please check the Study Vic website for the most up-to-date information on schooling fees for dependants of international students.

Dependent children of international students studying at Deakin University can study in both government and non-government schools.

  • International Student Program Unit, Department of Education and Training
    Tel: 9651 3700
    Fax: 9651 3981international@edumail.vic.gov.au; or
  • the schools in the suburb where they intend to live, who will assist them with their child's enrolment.

International students can find out more information on government and non-government schools from the International Division of the Department of Education and Training (Victoria) .
