Occasional Address

Ms Carolyn Hardy

The Occasional Address (ilecture recording - requires broadband) will be delivered by Ms Carolyn Hardy, Chief Executive, United Nations Children's Fund in Australia (UNICEF).

Carolyn Hardy was appointed Chief Executive of United Nations Children's Fund in Australia (UNICEF) in March 2004. UNICEF's mission is to protect children and contribute to their wellbeing through the provision of education, healthcare, essential medicines, vaccines, water and sanitation and emergency supplies.

Prior her appointment at UNICEF Australia, she held senior marketing positions with The Australian Financial Review newspaper.

Ms Hardy studied at Deakin University in the early 90s, gaining a Bachelor of Arts majoring in journalism then a Master of Arts in Australian studies. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma of Management majoring in marketing.

Ms Hardy sits on a number of UNICEF International advisory committees. She is currently a member of the Board of the NSW Branch of the ATSE Crawford Fund, a non-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger through agricultural research. She is also a member of the NGO National Advisory Group for Australia's report on the Convention of the Rights of the Child and a former member of the Executive Committee for the Australian Council for International Development.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
