Occasional Address

The occasional address was delivered by Mr Mukund Narayanamurti.
Mr Narayanamurti is a Senior Manager in KPMG Australia’s dedicated Asia Markets Group and specializes in market entry advisory services focused on corporate investment activity between Australia and Asia with a particular emphasis on India and China.
Prior to joining the Asia Markets Group in 2008, Mr Narayanamurti worked in KPMG Australia’s Tax Division providing domestic and international tax advisory services on various significant cross border mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and corporate reorganizations in the infrastructure, energy and natural resources, consumer foods and financial services sectors.
In recognition of his overall efforts within the Tax Division he was awarded the annual KPMG Tax Melbourne Business Development award in 2004 and an Extraordinary Performance award in 2005 by the partners of KPMG Tax Melbourne
Mr Narayanamurti graduated from Deakin University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, with various academic awards, including the prestigious John Scouller award in recognition of graduating as the top honours student in accounting and finance. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has also completed a Master’s degree in International Tax at the Law School of the University of Melbourne. In 2008, Mr Narayanamurti was the youngest attendee at an Executive Education Program in tax policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, where he joined 40 leaders from the public and private sector including, chief commissioners of taxation, directors from ministries of finance, World Bank and European Commission professionals and senior partners from international law and consulting firms from 25 countries.
Mr Narayanamurti has been involved in various initiatives with Deakin since graduation including, speaking at various career counseling seminars and workshops. In 2007, Mr Narayanamurti helped found the Deakin Commerce Alumni Chapter, and served as the Chapter’s first President. The Chapter is Deakin University’s largest and most active alumni chapter and has hosted many successful networking, professional development, community support and university profile enhancement events, all dedicated to supporting Deakin University’s mission of becoming Australia’s most progressive university.
