Occasional Address

darren gribble

The occasional address was delivered by Mr Darren Gribble.

Darren Gribble served as Australian High Commissioner to India from 1994 to 1997, and previously as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 1990 to 1994. He was Head of the North-East and South-East Asia Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, from 1987 to 1990.

Mr Gribble’s career has included several appointments at a senior level in Commonwealth Departments responsible for trade and resources, with responsibility for bilateral and multilateral trade relations, agriculture, mineral and energy trade and development.

During 1986 he worked as Senior Adviser to the Chairman of the Griffin Group, based in Western Australia.

Mr Gribble was appointed as a member of the Australia-India Council Board in December 1997, re-appointed in 2001 and 2004 and was the immediate past Chairman. For the past 10 years he has been retained as an adviser by several Australian companies doing business in India, South Korea and China. He is an adviser in Australia to the Confederation of Indian Industry and Special Trade Envoy for India for the Victorian State Government.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
