Graham Meyer

Occasional Address

The Occasional Address (iLecture recording - requires broadband) was delivered by Mr Graham Meyer, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Mr Graham Meyer commenced as Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in January 2006. With more than 25 years of commercial acumen gained principally in legal practice and the financial services sector, he has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Institute.

Mr Meyer began his career as a lawyer in Canberra where he ran his own practice, Meyer Boettcher & Clapham for ten years, before making the move into corporate law at the Civic Building Society. During his seven-year period at Civic Building Society, he held the role of Corporate Counsel, a post he only held for two years before being promoted to General Manager of Operations. A further two years later he was appointed as the company's Managing Director.

After his impressive history at Civic Building Society Mr Meyer moved to Advance Bank, where he held the position of Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking for five years, after which time he moved across to AMP.

Mr Meyer has spent the past ten years within AMP financial services and its affiliates. His first post was as Head of Distribution with PriorityOne, after one year he was then appointed Managing Director of ERGO and soon after, become the Director of Customer Services for AMP Financial Services. More recently, he has held the position of Managing Director for AMP Sanmar Assurance in India.

Mr Meyer is a strategic thinker who is clearly results oriented. He has a history of involvement with professional bodies and has worked at length in the legal, banking and financial services where he gained extensive experience in lobbying and working with Government. During his impressive career history, he has developed a reputation as a people motivator and for managing cultural change in organisations.

Mr Meyer has also proven to be highly successful in achieving stakeholder buy-in through his collegiate nature and, clearly from his impressive professional record, a highly accomplished leader and businessman.
