The MC was the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Graham Dennehy.

The Faculty Representative was Associate Professor Di Waddell.

Dr Lesley Ferkins - Thesis Title: "Sport Governance: Developing Strategic Capability in National Sport Organisations."

Summary
How can we be more strategic in what we do? Using an action research approach, this study found that ifboards of national sport organisations actively partnered with the CEO in the strategy process and sought toshare governing power with regional entities, they could enhance their strategic function.

Dr Julian Vieceli - Thesis Title: "Defining and Operationalising Brand Salience."

Summary
This research tested empirically a model of the antecedents and outcomes of brand salience across three product categories: a fast-moving consumer good (shampoo), a service (banks), and a durable (cars). The model of brand salience was supported for the shampoo and bank categories, but the model was not supported for cars.

Mr Adam Edward Tuck - Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction

These Medals are awarded annually to candidates with a record of outstanding scholarship as well as service to the community and the University.
The awards are named in honour of Alfred Deakin after whom this University is named and were an initiative introduced by the University to commemorate the life of Alfred Deakin.

Occasional Address

The Occasional Address (iLecture recording - requires broadband) was delivered by Mr Ian Cummin, Executive Vice-President, People and Performance, Bluescope Steel.

Mr Ian Cummin joined BlueScope Steel in May 2003. His portfolio of responsibility is for the group management of human resources, corporate affairs and safety.

Prior to joining BlueScope Steel, Mr Cummin established and operated his own successful consulting practice which he founded after leaving Southcorp Limited; where he held the post of Executive General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Services from 1995 to 2001.

Prior to his six year involvement with Southcorp, Mr Cummin was head of Human Resources for ICI Australia Ltd. Mr Cummin has also held senior human resources and industrial relations management positions in the energy, construction and resources industries, giving him an extensive understanding of these highly profitable and vital industries.

Mr Cummin is also a Deakin alumnus, having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Deakin University.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
