Ms Louise Adler, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher-in-Chief Melbourne University Publishing

The Occasional addres was delivered by Ms Louise Adler, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher-in-Chief Melbourne University Publishing.

Louise Adler is the Chief Executive Officer and Publisher-in-Chief of Melbourne University Publishing. Ms Adler has served as a member of the Monash University Council for over a decade. She is also a member of the Board of the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and The Monash University Museum of Art.

Her academic career includes teaching roles in the English and Comparative Literature Department at Columbia University and the University of Melbourne. In 1988 she became the Editor of Australian Book Review. From 1989 until 1994 Ms Adler was Publishing Director of Reed Books Australia. In 1994 she became the Arts and Entertainment Editor for The Age. In 1996 she joined the ABC's Radio National as the presenter of Arts Today. In 1999 Ms Adler was appointed the inaugural Deputy Director (Academic & Research) at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Her contribution to Australia's literary culture was acknowledged in the 2008 Australia Day Honours when she was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
