Undergraduate and Postgraduate
|HD||High Distinction||80% and over|
|D||Distinction||70 - 79%|
|C||Credit||60 - 69%|
|P||Pass||50 - 59%|
|UP||Ungraded Pass||used when pass or fail are the only possible outcomes for the unit|
|EP||External Institution Pass||used when a student obtains a pass or higher grade in a unit completed at another institution under a cross-institutional enrolment arrangement.|
|PC||Pass Conceded||a grade that may be awarded by the relevant Faculty Committee for one unit in any course to enable a student to satisfy the requirements of the course in which they are enrolled, provided that the student has achieved a minimum of 45% in the unit and satisfied any other requirements as specified in the Assessment (Higher Education Courses) procedure.|
|RI||Result not finalised||used where it is not possible to finalise an individual student's result at the time of submission of results|
|RIA||Result not finalised||special assessment task granted in response to application for Special Consideration (outcome 4)|

|WE||Withdrawn early||withdrawn by relevant census date|
|WL||Withdrawn late||Withdrawn without academic penalty after relevant census date|
|WN||Withdrawn fail||Fail, withdrawn after deadline for withdrawing, academic penalty incurred|
|WR||Withdrawn||Withdrawn, debt remission, without academic penalty|
|WRN||Withdrawn||Withdrawn, debt remission, with academic penalty (normally applied where a student withdraws from a unit for the second time or following the unsuccessful completion of a significant assessment component)|
|XA||Not to be assessed yet||used where it is not possible to finalise results for all students in a unit at the time of submission of results due to the particular requirements of the unit (e.g. clinical placement)|
|XN||Failure, not assessed||used for those students who did not submit any of the required assessment|
Grades listed above are used for units studied during the honours year. Overall honours grade is not submitted on a unit result entry sheet. It is recorded against the course when a student's qualified status is determined.
|H1||First Class Honours||80% and over|
|H2A||Second Class Honours Division A||70 - 79%|
|H2B||Second Class Honours Division B||60 - 69%|
|H3||Third Class Honours||50 - 59%|
The following grades shall be used for students enrolled in Masters by Research and PhD courses ONLY
|IP||Progress report not finalised|
|IPR||Incomplete progress (through no fault of the candidates)|

There are also results listed below which are not currently used, but have been part of the grading schema since 1993.
|XL||Individual progression (self paced learning units)||Used for Deakin Australia (Technology Management Courses) where the unit is being continued in the next semester|
