Postgraduate English Language requirements

You must meet the English language requirements of Deakin. You can demonstrate that you meet these in a variety of ways for a postgraduate course.

English level required

Each Deakin course has different levels of English required.    Find the course you are interested in studying and note the band which is displayed (in brackets).

Graduate Certificates

  • Graduate Certificate of Commercial Law (Financial Crime Control) (Band C)

Master (coursework) degrees

All other degrees not specified above are Band B.

How to meet the requirements

You can demonstrate you meet the requirements by one of the following:

  1. Completion of previous studies as indicated
  2. Completion of an English language test at or above the level indicated
  3. Achievement of English language proficiency as deemed acceptable by the Academic Board, on a case-by-case basis.

Previous studies in English

You must have satisfactorily completed at least one of the following:

English speaking country means Australia, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia.
