What can I study?

You may like to study writing and literature through the Bachelor of Arts. You can combine your love of literature with many other major choices, either in the humanities and social sciences like history or politics or in our creative and professional fields like journalism or film studies; you can double-major in writing and literature. Whatever you choose, the BA gives you choice, flexibility and a multi-dimensional experience.

Our specialised degree in Professional and Creative Writing takes you on a different path, emphasising writing craft to a greater degree and focused on this area in depth.  Choose between the two before or after you start at Deakin.

You can then add a specialised honours program, which is particularly important for those seeking advanced research preparation but also provides a final intensive program of writing for our more able students.

In our Master of Arts (Writing and Literature), we have a revised and deeper program of study for 2015, starting with more foundation units to help newer writers and scholars of literature, but also adding more advanced research and creative writing work for experienced students.

We have a range of graduate diploma options, all available online and part time as well as on campus and full time, which cover the key specialisations in writing and literature that we offer. These diplomas are a great bridge from your previous study to higher-level work and provide credit to the Masters degree.
