What can I study?

Four unique specialisations

Children's literature

Explore a wide variety of literary and popular texts, from picture books for the very young to novels and films intended for young adults.

Gain specialist knowledge and skills related to children's texts, with a focus on the historical and cultural context in which children's texts are
produced, while learning from professionals working in fields associated with children's literature

Creative writing

Creative writing will provide you with the qualities and attributes you will need to work in specialised creative writing fields, and to transfer writing/editing skills across relevant work environments. You will focus on the craft of creative writing and redrafting, with research and analysis of a specific writing project and will develop and workshop materials across fiction, creative non- fiction, scriptwriting and poetry.

Literary studies

Explore a rich array of literature ranging from classical Greek drama and Shakespearean plays, to children's literature and recent world fiction and poetry. You will undertake critical analysis of literature and literary theory and will have the opportunity to focus on your own creative writing skills.

Professional writing

Gain expertise and practical experience in the process of writing and revision, while developing your understanding of the requirements of writing for different audiences. You will focus on producing works for publication and the achievement of professional standards.
