Courses within Information technology

Gain the experience and skills employers value

Whether investigating cyber attacks or identifying hidden patterns in big data, our IT courses provide an immersive learning experience. You'll learn by doing, rather than just seeing – not only will you succeed in your course, you'll also stand out to future employers.

Industry experience in every IT course

All Deakin IT students are able to undertake an internship and complete real-world industry projects to synthesise the knowledge and skills learnt in the classroom, and apply this in a professional work environment.

This counts towards your degree and helps to develop your professional networks before you graduate.

Earn professional recognition

Most of our IT courses are professionally accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) – resulting in stronger job outcomes with an industry-recognised degree.

You can also choose to study Deakin units that lead to Cisco certification, giving you a relevant and practical qualification, as well as an advantage over other graduates when you apply for jobs.

Close industry partnerships

We closely align and maintain strong IT industry links with leading private and public sector representatives, who guide our curriculum programs. This keeps our courses current and relevant to industry needs, which is key where change is constant.

Deakin also hosts regular guest speakers from key industry partners, keeping you abreast of trends, as well as providing important networking opportunities.

Deakin encouraged me to try new things, and not be afraid to explore areas of game design I previously ignored, or weren't even aware existed.

The latest technology and facilities

We regularly invest in our facilities so that you can access the latest software and technologies in fully equipped computer labs. The new Robotics and Internet of Things (RIoT) studio has the latest in computing, robotics and cyber-physical systems. You'll also have access to professional software products, such as programming IDEs, games engines, VR and content development systems.

Flexible study options

Genuine flexibility is a key feature of our courses. Study full or part time at our Melbourne Burwood or Geelong Waurn Ponds campuses, or online anywhere in the world through Deakin's Cloud Campus. Our generalist and specialised courses offer a diverse range of IT study areas.

Experience the world while you study

Have the opportunity to choose from an array of exciting international programs. Our IT students have travelled to locations including Europe, USA, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan to undertake a global study and work experience.
