Deakin University offers a range of prestigious scholarships that recognise and reward students with outstanding academic abilities.
Deakin Academic Scholarships
Deakin will offer three scholarships per year to the top new VCE student enrolling full time in an undergraduate degree course as a Commonwealth supported student at Deakin. The scholarship will pay for all student contributions for the normal duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic performance. No separate scholarship application is required.
Deakin Honours Scholarships
Deakin will offer twelve scholarships to students enrolling full time as a Commonwealth supported student: three per Faculty offering end-on Honours degrees at Deakin. The scholarship will pay all student contributions for one year, and selection will be based on academic results in your undergraduate degree. No separate scholarship application is required.
Gordon Council Scholarships
Awarded to a second year student of an undergraduate course in a Commonwealth supported place, based on academic achievement in their first full year of undergraduate study. The scholarship will continue for two years subject to satisfactory academic achievement and is valued at $500 per year. For application details please see the Scholarships website.
Deakin University International Baccalaureate (IB) Excellence Scholarships
Awarded to the highest scoring applicant, who completed their International Baccalaureate diploma in 2011, enrolling full time in an undergraduate degree course as a Commonwealth supported student at Deakin. This scholarship is valued at $3000 per year for the normal duration of the course. No separate scholarship application is required.

City of Greater Geelong Scholarship
These scholarships are available to commencing students. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking an undergraduate engineering course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at on of the Geelong Campuses; a permanent resident of the City of Greater Geelong; able to demonstrate an area of disadvantage. The City of Greater Geelong Scholarship pays student contributions up to $6,500 per year for the normal duration of the course and is subject to satisfactory academic performance. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Access Scholarships
These scholarships are available to commencing students. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking an undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student; able to demonstrate an area of disadvantage. The Deakin Access Scholarships cover all student contributions for the normal duration of the course and are subject to satisfactory academic performance. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Accommodation Scholarships
These scholarships are available to commencing full-time students who have moved from rural or regional locations to study on-campus at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, the Geelong Waterfront Campus, or the Warrnambool Campus. Payment is made directly to Residences for on campus accommodation. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student; have moved from a rural or regional home location to study at one of the above campuses; able to demonstrate an area of disadvantage. The Deakin Accommodation Scholarships is valued at $9500 per year for the normal duration of the course and is subject to satisfactory academic performance. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin A L Lane Scholarship
This scholarship is available to commencing full-time student enrolled in and undergraduate degree course at the Warrnambool Campus and living at Deakin Residences in Warrnambool. Payment is made directly to Residences for on campus accommodation. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at Warrnambool Campus; a resident of the south-west Victoria region; able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. The Deakin A L Lane Scholarships is valued at $8000 per year for three years and is subject to satisfactory academic performance. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin City of Whitehorse Scholarship
This scholarship is offered to a student commencing the first year of an undergraduate degree course at Deakin University's Melbourne Burwood Campus and living in the City of Whitehorse. This scholarship pays cash or student contributions up to $4500 per year for one year. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student; a reident of the City of Whitehorse for at least three years; have a demonstrable involvement in the local community; able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Margery Ramsay Scholarship
Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; commencing a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Geelong Waurn Ponds, Waterfront or Warrnambool Campuses; from a rural or regional area of Victoria and able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. This scholarship pays a cash payment of $4500 per year for three years subject to satisfactory academic performance. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Moyne Shire Council Award
This scholarship is offered by the Moyne Shire Council and is valued at $1500 per year for one year only. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported at the Warrnambool Campus; a resident of the Moyne Shire and able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Moyne Shire Council Local Government Award
This scholarship is offered by the Moyne Shire Council and is valued at $2500 per year for one year only. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Warrnambool Campus; able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Sally Walker Scholarship
This scholarship is offered by Deakin University to assist a student who would otherwise have difficulty or be unable to study, due to financial circumstances. This scholarship is valued at $10 000 per year, comprising $8000 towards accommodation costs and a cash component of $2000 to offset study expenses, such as books. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student preferably at the Warrnambool Campus, from a rural or regional location, able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Archie and Hilda Graham Foundation Award
This award was established by the Archie and Hilda Graham Foundation to reduce study expenses of commencing Commonwealth supported students from the south-western region of Victoria, and is a $1000 cash payment. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Warrnambool Campus; a resident of the City of Warrnambool, the Moyne Shire Council or south-western Victoria; able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. The George Alexander Foundation Scholarships at Deakin University
Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; commencing a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Geelong Waurn Ponds, Waterfront or Warrnambool Campuses and able to demonstrate economic, social or geographical disadvantage. The Invergowrie Foundation Tertiary Scholarships for Women at Deakin University
Applicants must be a commencing full-time female student at the Geelong or Warrnambool Campuses, and must meet certain access and equity requirements. Applicants must be: female; an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Geelong or Warrnambool Campuses; a resident from a rural or regional area of Victoria for at least the previous two years; able to demonstrate financial disadvantage . This scholarship pays a cash payment or student contributions of $5000 per year for three years. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
The Harold Carroll Memorial Scholarship
The Harold Carroll Memorial Scholarship was established by the late Harold Carroll to provide scholarships for students from the Western District of Victoria, to allow them to undertake studies at tertiary level. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student; from the Western District of Victoria and have undertaken some part of their education at a school in the Western District and are able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. The scholarship is valued at $4000 per year and one scholarship is offered each year for the normal duration of the course. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
The Ern Hartley Foundation Award
This award was established by the Ern Hartley Foundation to reduce study expenses of continuing students from the south-western region of Victoria, and is a $1000 cash payment. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Warrnambool Campus; a resident of the City of Warrnambool, the Moyne Shire Council or south-western Victoria. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Warrnambool City Council Award
This scholarship is offered by the City of Warrnambool and is valued at $2500 for one year to assist with study costs. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported student at the Warrnambool Campus; living in Warrnambool or South-West Victoria and able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.
Deakin Warrnambool City Council Scholarship
This scholarship is offered by the City of Warrnambool and pays student contributions up to $7500 per year for three years. Applicants must be: an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; undertaking a full-time undergraduate course of study as a Commonwealth supported at the Warrnambool Campus; living in Warrnambool and able to demonstrate financial disadvantage. Selection is based on access and equity criteria.

The University offers partial remission of student contributions for Indigenous students enrolling to study through the Institute of Koorie Education as well as some special awards for students in particular disciplines.
Dr (Auntie) Mary Atkinson Scholarships
Applicants must be Indigenous students. The scholarships are offered to the top Indigenous student admitted to an undergraduate nursing course and an undergraduate education course each year, and will pay all student contributions for the normal duration of the course, subject to satisfactory performance. No separate scholarship application is required.
Deakin Indigenous Bursaries
Applicants must be Indigenous students and enrolled to study at the Institute of Koorie Education. The value is the difference between the basic student contribution charge and the amount charged for the student's enrolled units (the HECS surcharge). The bursary will apply to the first 8 credit points of study on commencement, and will be available to all students satisfying the eligibility and selection criteria. No separate scholarship application is required.
Indigenous Access Scholarships
Indigenous Access Scholarships aims to improve access to higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Applicants must be full time Indigenous students enrolled to study with the Institute of Koorie Education in a Commonwealth supported place and able to demonstrate financial, educational or social disadvantage.
Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships
Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (ICECS) aims to assist indigenous students with the costs associated with higher education. Applicants must be full time Indigenous students enrolled to study with the Institute of Koorie Education in a Commonwealth supported place and able to demonstrate financial, educational or social disadvantage.

Deakin Education Abroad Travel Grants
Deakin University offers travel grants to students taking part in a formal international exchange program with an exchange partner university.
Applications are invited from both Australian residents and international students. The Education Abroad travel grants are awarded on the basis of the eligibility criteria for the Education Abroad program.

This scholarship is offered to a student commencing the Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences with the financial costs of further education. The scholarship is valued at $500 per year for two years and is subject to satisfactory academic performance. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa and a future students enrolled full time in the Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences in a Commonwealth supported place.
Faculty of Arts and Education Honours Scholarships
This scholarship was established to recognise Deakin students who have achieved outstanding academic results throughout their undergraduate studies. This scholarship pays up to $3000 over one year. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa and enrolled full-time in an honours degree commencing in 2012 with the Faculty of Arts and Education in a Commonwealth supported place.
May and Romeo Schiavon Honours Scholarship in Rural and Regional Journalism
This scholarship was established by the May and Romeo Schiavon Endowment to encourage students to undertake an honours project in regional journalism. The scholarship is valued at $5000 over one year. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa and enrolled full-time in an honours degree commencing in 2012 with the Faculty of Arts and Education in a Commonwealth supported place undertaking a project in regional journalism. The scholarship is awarded on academic achievement and submission of a proposal for an honours project in regional journalism.
Peter Davis Memorial Honours Scholarship
The scholarship honours the late Peter Davis, a respected colleague both for his commitment to the discipline area of Professional and Creative Writing and for his encouragement of commencing scholars in this area. He blended his love of scholarship with applied creative research within his own academic achievements. This scholarship will provide a memorial to Peter Davis’ abilities and visionary contribution to the discipline area, and an acknowledgement and support of student achievement in completing honours studies within Professional and Creative Writing. The scholarship is valued at upwards of $500 per year. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa and enrolled in an honours degree commencing in 2012 with the Faculty of Arts and Education, undertaking studies in Professional and Creative Writing. The scholarship is awarded on academic achievement and submission of a proposal for an honours project in professional or creative writing.
Dean's Scholars Program - Commerce (Melbourne Burwood Campus)
A small number of scholarships are offered to students with the highest ATAR scores admitted to the Bachelor of Commerce at the Melbourne Burwood Campus. The scholarships are valued at $2800 each per year over three years (subject to satisfactory academic progress). Dean’s Scholars are also supported by an academic mentor. Applications are made through separate VTAC entry to the Program.
Dean's Scholarships - Commerce (Geelong Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool Campuses)
A small number of scholarships will be awarded to the students eligible for a Commonwealth supported place with the highest ATARs admitted to the Bachelor of Commerce at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and the Warrnambool Campus. The scholarships are valued at $2800 each year over three years (subject to satisfactory academic progress) and provide support of an academic mentor. To be eligible you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.
Alfred Deakin Scholarships in Law
A small number of scholarships will be awarded to students with the highest ATAR's who accept a first-round offer into the Bachelor of Laws as a single degree or combined with other degrees at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and Warrnambool Campus. Up to seven Alfred Deakin scholarships will be offered to commencing students eligible for a Commonwealth supported place in Law or a combined Law course. Selection will be made on the student's ATAR. The scholarship pays a cash payment of up to $2800 per year and academic mentor support, subject to academic performance. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.
Faculty of Business and Law Rural and Regional Grant
The Faculty of Business and Law offers grants to assist rural students entering a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws or Bachelor of Management degree at the Warrnambool Campus. This grant is valued up to $2000 for 1 year, subject to academic performance. To be eligible for this grant you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; enrolled in a Faculty of Business and Law undergraduate course at the Warrnambool Campus and from a rural area (which includes Warrnambool and towns in Western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia, as well as the surrounding countryside.
Faculty of Business and Law First in Family Grant
The Faculty of Business and Law offers grants to assist students entering undergraduate studies at the Melbourne Burwood Campus or Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or off campus . This grant is valued up to $2000 for 1 year, subject to academic performance. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; enrolled in a Faculty of Business and Law undergraduate degree in a commonwealth supported place and meet the requirements of the VTAC special entry access scheme (SEAS 5): Disadvantaged financial background.
School of Medicine
Deakin Accommodation (Medicine) Scholarships
Deakin will offer three scholarships to commencing students in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in a Commonwealth supported place to assist them with accommodation costs of up to $9500 in University residences at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus for the normal duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic performance. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; have moved from your rural or regional home location to study at the Deakin Medical School and are able to demonstrate economic, social or geographical disadvantage. The applicant is required to move away from home.

Dean's Scholarships Program - Science and Technology Academic Scholarships for High Achievers
The Faculty of Science and Technology will offer up to five scholarships of $5000 per year for the duration of their course, conditional upon full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic progress. Recipients will also be assigned an academic mentor. The scholarships will be offered to high achieving commencing students from Year 12. Applicants must first apply for the program through VTAC and then also make a direct application to the Faculty.
IGNITED (Deakin Initiative for a Girls’ Network in Information Technology and Engineering @ Deakin) Scholarships
Up to eight scholarships will be awarded to first year female students with the highest ATAR scores above 80, in either the Bachelor of Information Technology degrees (which include Interactive Media, Games Design and Development, IT Security and Computer Science and Software Development), the Bachelor of Engineering degrees (which includes major streams in Civil or Mechanical or Mechatronics and Robotics), the Bachelor of Network Engineering or a combined course which includes at least one of the above single degrees. The IGNITED scholarships are each valued at $10000 in total over the duration of the course, conditional upon full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic progress. Recipients will also be assigned an academic mentor.
Deakin Bennett Honours Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students undertaking projects in the field of study of fibres or textiles at Deakin's Institute for Technology Research and Innovation. (Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus) The value is $7000 for one year, paid towards student contributions or as a cash payment. To be eligible you must be enrolled in an honours degree of the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering. Selection is based on the academic results in your undergraduate degree.
Deakin Pham Family Honours Scholarship
Awarded to a student enrolling in the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) degree at the Melbourne Burwood Campus in a Commonwealth supported place. The recipient will have previously obtained a Bachelor of Information Technology degree, and achieved a high academic standing in their University studies to date. The scholarship is valued at up to $6000 and is paid towards the recipient's fee contributions.
Barwon Water Civil Engineering Scholarships
Up to two scholarships will be awarded to year 12 students entering the Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent Bachelor of Engineering combined degree, and majoring in the Civil Engineering stream. Applicants must have completed their secondary school education in the Barwon Water catchment area. Selection will be based on ATAR score and an interview.
The scholarship is valued at $20000 in total over the duration of the course, (single degree $5000 per year or $4000 per year combined course), provided that the student is enrolled full time in a majority of on-campus units and maintains a high level of academic achievement each trimester.
The successful applicant(s) should be available to complete paid work experience at Barwon Water during the trimester breaks. The opportunity for work experience is dependant upon Barwon Water's business and operational requirements.
CPG Australia Pty Ltd Civil Engineering Scholarship
Up to four scholarships will be awarded to year 12 students entering the Bachelor of Engineering or related combined degree, majoring in the Civil Engineering Stream.
• A maximum of two scholarships will be awarded to students from the Albury/Wodonga and Shepparton region;
• A maximum of two scholarships will be awarded to students from the Barwon region.
The scholarships are valued at $5000 per year (single degree) or $4000 per year (combined course), provided that the student is enrolled full-time in a majority of on-campus units and maintains a high level of academic achievement each trimester.
The successful applicant(s) may be eligible to complete paid work experience at CPG Australia Pty Ltd during the trimester breaks. The opportunity for work experience is dependant upon the Scholarship holder’s availability as well as CPG Australia’s business and operational requirements.

Dr. Malcolm Crick Memorial Prize
A prize of $200 is awarded to the highest achieving second-year Anthropology student, who is continuing on to level three.
Rabbi Dr Israel Porush Prize
A prize of $250 for the best overall academic record by a new graduate in a social sciences discipline.
Renee Erdos Memorial Prize
A prize of $1000 for the best honours student in the Faculty of Arts and Education, more than half of whose honours program has been undertaken in the off-campus mode. The nomination will be based on the student's work in the honours year only.
Robert McDonald Prize
A prize of $100 for an outstanding graduating student of Journalism or International Relations.
The Standard Journalism Prize
An academic excellence prize of $1500 is awarded annually to a student majoring in journalism who resides within Warrnambool or the surrounding districts and meets the following criteria:
Australian Literacy Educators' Association (ALEA)
Two prizes of one year's membership to the ALEA awarded for graduating with a primary education degree and having achieved the highest aggregate marks in literacy education subjects (Melbourne Burwood Campus, and either Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or Warrnambool Campus).
Australian Society for Music Education (ASME)
A prize of one year's membership to ASME and a selection of ASME publications for graduating with a secondary education degree and having achieved the highest performance in Music Method Studies.
Gillian Barnsley/ Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE) Award
One prize awarded for graduating with a secondary education degree and having achieved the highest all-round performance in English education subjects and in English teaching practicum.
Mathematical Association of Victoria Prizes (MAV)
Three prizes of a year's membership of MAV and a selection of MAV publications awarded to the most outstanding students in mathematics and mathematics education: two for graduating with a primary education degree and having achieved the highest marks in mathematics education subjects (Melbourne Burwood Campus, and either Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or Warrnambool Campus); and one for graduating with an education degree qualifying to teach secondary mathematics with the highest aggregate marks in mathematics and mathematics education subjects (any Campus).
Primary English Teaching Association (e:lit)
Two prizes of one year's membership to e:lit awarded for graduating with a graduate-entry primary education degree and having achieved the highest aggregate marks in literacy education subjects (Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and Warrnambool Campus).
Design and Technology Teachers' Association Victoria (DATTA)
Three prizes of a year's membership of DATTA and a selection of DATTA publications awarded to the most outstanding students in technology education in an undergraduate education course, having completed the unit EST400 Primary Technology Education: Creativity and Design (Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and Warrnambool Campus) with distinction and within the unit focused on either the integration of all three strands of technology or on either systems or materials strands.
Victorian Teachers Credit Union (VTCU)
Two scholarships to the value of $500 each awarded to the highest achieving students together with outstanding results in teaching practice and having received no other scholarships (based on results of first three years of course) at the Melbourne Burwood Campus.

The Bennett Summer Placement
For a student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering or related combined degree who has completed the 2nd or 3rd year of their degree and who is an Australian citizen. The recipient will be awarded a three month Summer Placement undertaking projects in the field of stufy of fibres or textiles within the Institute for Technology Research and Innovation valued at $3000.

Arthur Collins Award
$500 prize named in honour of Arthur Collins (past staff member of the School of Architecture and Building). Awarded for the best student project submitted by a fourth year Architecture student.
Australian Institute of Architects (McGlashan Everist) Graduate Prize
Awarded to a graduating student in Architecture. The prize recognises the successful balance between design excellence and construction and practice excellence. Short listed candidates will be invited to attend an interview. The prize consists of a $2500 cheque, certificate presented by the AIA Chapter President, offer of 1 year's employment with McGlashan Everist P/L, AIA membership fees paid for 2 years, AIA 'Practice of Architecture' course fees paid upon enrolment, AACA registration examination fees paid upon application and Board of Architects first year of registration enrolment fees paid upon application.
Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) Donald Cant Prize
An award, in honour of Donald Cant, of $250 is made to the highest achieving student completing the quantity surveying subjects in the Construction Management degree.
Chartered Institute of Building (CIOBA) Undergraduate Award
Awarded to an excellent undergraduate student enrolled in the Construction Management degree.
Coffey Projects Prize
Three x $1000 prizes awarded to the highest achiever in the first, second and third years of the Construction Management degree. The winners are selected by the Chair of Construction Management based on the overall academic achievement in the Construction Management degree for the year.
Ian Fulton Rotary Awards
Named in memory of Ian Fulton (past staff member of the School of Architecture and Building) and is awarded annually by the Geelong Rotary Club. The 2 x $500 awards are given to the top two Construction Management students entering the honours stream with the highest weighted average marks (WAM) based on level 3 units completed to date.
Peddle Thorp Award
$5000 award given as encouragement and in recognition of excellence in the final year design unit in the Architecture course.
Peddle Thorp Prize
$1000 prize awarded to a first year student who completed Year 12 in the previous year on the basis of academic merit in Year 12 as indicated by the ATAR score. (Recipient of Dean's Scholars Program will not be eligible.)
Richard Gibson Award
$500 award named in honour of Richard Gibson (past staff member of the School of Architecture and Building). Awarded to a third year Architecture student for the best design project.
RICS Prize
An award of a RICS membership and assessment fee to the value of $400 is made to the highest performing student completing the Construction Management degree.
Schiavello Prize
$1000 prize is awarded to a student enrolled in the Construction Management degree for initiative in construction management.
Studio 101 Architects Award
$500 award for the most outstanding second year design student from SRD264 studio. Prize also includes 2 weeks paid work experience.
The Cavalier Prize
$250 voucher awarded to the best student in first year design.
Third Ecology Prize
Awarded to the best second year student in the area of ecology and sustainable design. The award includes a monetary prize and an opportunity for part-time placement with the firm. The opportunity for work experience is dependant upon the award holder's availaibility as well as Third Ecology's business and operational requirements.
Victorian Digital Solutions Prize
An award made to a student in each year level of the Architecture course of $400 (awarded as either a cheque or digital printing / output to the value of $400). Successful applicants will be judged on a non discipline based selection of work that is presented in an A1 format which is graphically rich in the use of the digital medium and is visually engaging and informative.
School of Life and Environmental Sciences
Aquatic Science Award
A prize of $500 and a certificate is awarded annually to the highest performing qualifying student in either the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Freshwater Biology) or the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Marine Biology) course at the Warrnambool Campus. The recipient have met the requirements for graduation from the course and achieved a minimum weighted average mark of 80 across all level three units completed.
Byron Williams Award
Named in memory of Byron Williams. A prize of $500 and a certificate is awarded annually to a student who has completed between 15 to 20 credit points of the environmental science course at the Melbourne Burwood Campus. The award is for a student who completed most of the course to date in a part-time mode, has shown commitment, high personal achievement, (not exclusively academic) demonstrated the potential to pursue the ideals of the course in the community and persevered with studies alongside other external activities.
Christopher Michael Oakley Award
Named in memory of Christopher Michael Oakley. A prize of $1000 and a certificate is awarded annually to a student who has met the requirements to graduate from the Marine Biology course or its equivalent and enrols for the honours year. The recipient will have achieved standards of excellence in their academic record, demonstrated a personal commitment to marine science, suitable personal qualities in leadership, concern for fellow students and demonstrated a financial need.
Earthwatch Institute Fellowship Program (EIFP)
Students enrolled in either a Bachelor of Environmental Sciences courses, the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Biological Science will have the opportunity to access scholarships with the Earthwatch Institute, working on a variety of environmentally critical projects, with eminent researchers.
Recipients of the EIFP must be studying in an area relevant to the projects offered by Earthwatch. Recipients must have completed at least 12 credit points of study and no more than 16 credit points by the end of the year. They must be enrolled in a minimum of three credit points in the trimester of application.
Frances O'Connor Award
Named in memory of Frances O'Connor. A prize of $200 and a certificate is awarded annually to a first year undergraduate student stuying Environmental Science at the Warrnambool Campus. The recipient will have demonstrated great endeavour in their environmental science studies.

Ten prizes are awarded annually to the highest performing students who have completed their first year in full-time studies in the following undergraduate courses. The successful recipients will have achieved at least a minimum weighted average mark of 80:

A prize of $500 and a certificate is awarded annually to the highest achiever in the unit SLE321 Molecular Biology Techniques.
John Clarke Prize
Established by his former students in memory of John Clarke a prize of $1000 and a certificate is awarded annually to the outstanding third year student entering an honours course in forensic sciences.
Kate England Award
Named in memory of Kate England a prize of $200 and a certificate is awarded annually to a student who has fulfilled the requirements to graduate with a Bachelor of Environmental Science degree offered at either the Melbourne Burwood Campus or the Warrnambool Campus. The successful recipient will have demonstrated commitment to their studies, high personal achievement (not exclusively academic) and has pursued the ideals of the course in the community.
Michael J Liddy Forensic Science Moot Court Prize
A prize of $200 and a certificate is awarded annually to the Forensic Science student who achieves the highest mark in the moot court presentation in the final year Forensic Science unit.
Peter Kew Award
Named in memory of Peter Kew a prize of $500 and a certificate is awarded annually to the highest achieving second year student enrolled in the Bachelor of Environmental Science course on the Warrnambool Campus. The student must be enrolled in at least three units per trimester and have achieved a minimum weighted average mark of 80 in level 2 units of study.
Victoria Police Forensic Services Honours Prize
A prize of $250 is awarded annually to the best forensic science honours project.
Growfish Aquaculture Award
A prize of $500 is awarded annually to a high performing student enrolled in an aquaculture Honours research degree. The successful recipient will have met the requirements for graduation from an approprieate undergraduate degree and achieved the highest weighted average mark in their level three units of study.

Alcoa Future Leaders of Industry Engineering Award (subject to annual confirmation)
An award of $5000 and 12 weeks paid vacation work awarded to one Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) student who has completed second year in a single degree or third year in a combined course. This student should display a high level of academic achievement, possess motivation for the chosen field of engineering and demonstrate a high level of communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
IMechE Award
A prize of the equivalent of 200 pounds sterling for the highest mark in the final year project (SEJ441 and SEJ 442) on a mechanical topic in the Bachelor of Engineering or a combined Bachelor of Engineering course.
IMechE 'Frederic Barnes Waldron' Award
A prize of the equivalent of 200 pounds sterling for the best academic performance in the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or combined Bachelor of Engineering course.
The Alcoa World Alumina Australia Award
A prize of $500 for the best academic performance in the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics and Robotics) or equivalent in a combined Bachelor of Engineering course.
The Des Munday and Son Award
A prize of $500 for the best academic performance in the third year of the Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical or equivalent in a combined Bachelor of Engineering course.
The Godfrey Hirst Australia Award
A prize of $300 for the best honours graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering or combined Bachelor of Engineering course.
The GM Holden Ltd Award

Jamie Peter Southwell Award
Named in memory of Jamie Peter Southwell. An award of $1000 for a rural or regional student relocating to Deakin University to commence full-time study in the Bachelor of Information Technology (Games and Design and Development) at either the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or the Melbourne Burwood Campus.
Professor of Information Technology Award
An award of $500 is made to high performing students in the School of Information Technology in each of the following categories. The recipients will have achieved a weighted average mark of 75 or greater:

An award of $2000 is made to students commencing full-time study in S470 Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) at either the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or the Melbourne Burwood Campus.
Univise Award
An award of $500 is made to the highest achieving student who has completed second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology (Computer Science and Software Development) at the Melbourne Burwood Campus.
ANZ IT Security Award
An award of $500 is made to the highest achieving student who has completed second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology (IT Security) at the Melbourne Burwood Campus.
