Clinical Exercise Learning Centre

At the Clinical Exercise Learning Centre (CELC) we aim to help improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with chronic disease, injuries or disability. Our clients are treated by accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) and master's students training to become AEPs.

Invaluable experience for Deakin students

CELC was developed for students of our Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology course. Thanks to the centre, students can apply their clinical knowledge to real clients.

Working alongside accredited exercise physiologists, students meet with clients, conduct assessments and create exercise and lifestyle programs.

Feel better than you thought possible

Most people, at some point in their lives, could benefit hugely from exercise physiology.

If you currently suffer from any of the below conditions, make an appointment and we'll find the best treatment plan for you. We welcome students, staff and members of the public.

Come and see us if you have:

  • cardiovascular disease
  • diabetes
  • osteoporosis
  • an anxiety and/or depression disorder
  • neurological disorders
  • Parkinson's disease
  • cancer
  • arthritis
  • respiratory disease
  • musculoskeletal injury.

Our services and programs

When you attend the CELC, we start by getting to know you so that we can tailor exercise to your needs.

This may include using the on-campus facilities (purpose built gym) or we can develop programs that use what's available to you at home or in your community.

As well as one-on-one services we run several group programs, with more coming soon.

Sugar Beat

Designed for people with pre-diabetes and diabetes, Sugar Beat provides lifestyle planning, exercise programs and the chance to make new friends.

Cardio Club

If you have a cardiovascular-related condition, Cardio Club will help you use exercise to live a healthy life.

Come and see us for a consultation

You don't need a referral to use the CELC. Just give us a call and make an appointment.

However, your doctor may be able to refer you through Medicare, Worksafe or TAC. Our fees are modest and many of our services can be bulk billed or similar. Concessions are also available.
