Calendar
The calendar tool allows you to arrange and visualise your units' events in multiple views and enables integration of unit content and your calendar. You can use iCal to synchronise the calendar tool to your personal calendars (such as Outlook and Google Calendar, as well as iPhone and Android).
The Calendar tool enables you to view units-related and University wide events. You can view dates posted for units such as assignments due dates.
Accessing the Calendar tool
- Go to a Unit site Home page.
- Under the Calendar widget, click on the action menu of the Calendar and select Go to Calendar.
In this view, you can:
- See a single day, week, or a month at a time.
- Use the Day, Week, and Month tabs across the top of the page to change the calendar display.
- View the events for a specific day by clicking a specific date on the Date Picker widget and also on the Calendar Grid.
You can add tasks that you need to complete to the Calendar tool.
- From the Calendar page, click on Add a task... text box on your right hand side. Enter a title for the task.
- To add a due date or a note to the task, click on the title of the task.
- Click on No due date, select a date and click the Save icon.
- Click on Add a note... to add notes for yourself.
- On the Calendar page, click on the Print button.
- In the pop-up window, select your print options.
- Click Print and click OK from the pop-up window.
- Under the Calendar widget, click on the action menu of the Calendar and select Subscribe. If you did not see the Subscribe option, follow the steps below:
- Click on Go to Calendar and then click on Settings.
- Tick the box next to Enable Calendar Feeds and click Save.
- Click on the Subscribe button.
- A new window will pop-up. Select the URL, control-click and select Copy.
- Open iCal and from the menu Calendar select Subscribe....
- Configure the Calendar settings. (Name, Colour, Location, Remove, Auto-refresh rate). The Calendar will update according to the Auto-refresh rate.
- To manually refresh the Calendar click on Refresh or Refresh All in the Calendar menu.
- To change Calendar settings, click on Calendars, right-click/control-click the relevant Calendar and select Get Info.
- Under the Calendar widget, click on the action menu of the Calendar and select Subscribe. If you did not see the Subscribe option, follow the steps below:
- Click on Go to Calendar and then click on Settings.
- Tick the box next to Enable Calendar Feeds and click Save.
- Click on the Subscribe button.
- A new window will pop-up. Select the URL, right-click and select Copy.
- Open Microsoft Outlook and switch to Calendar view.
- In the Home tab, click Open Calendar and select From Internet....
- Paste the link in to the URL field and click OK.
- Configure the Calendar Options by clicking on Advanced.
- Accept the Advanced Calendar Options by clicking OK.
- Click YES to add the Calendar to Outlook.
- The calendar will appear in the folder that was selected, but can be moved by dragging it to another category.
- To manually refresh the Calendar click on Send/Receive All Folders. Alternatively use Update Folder in the Send/Receive tab.
