AI use at Deakin
Deakin's Artificial Intelligence Responsible Use policy sets expectations for the responsible, ethical and innovative use of AI for all staff, students and associates of the University.
Things to know
- Familiarise yourself with the policy. This is foundational information that sets expectations for your AI use. Keep in mind that policy may change as practice and technology evolves.
- Students must always check with your unit chair if and how you are allowed to use AI to support your learning and in your assessments.
- Researchers must align AI use with advice provided at AI in academic research.
- Use Deakin endorsed tools first. Many include AI features and utilise single-sign-on through your Deakin username and password for access and security.
- Do not use student, staff, business or research information in public AI services.
- Do not submit or upload any copyrighted materials in prompts or otherwise to AI platforms unless you have obtained the required prior written consents.
- Do not enter sensitive or personal information into AI systems or tools. Examples include names, emails, identity or health data.
- The use of DeepSeek at Deakin is strictly prohibited.
- Deakin's AI Framework and Principles are embedded within Deakin policy and provide structure to guide your decision-making with AI tools, functionality and output.
