About Library Research Services
The Library partners with researchers at the intersection of research and information science, providing expert research services to Deakin’s research community.
Our vision
Our vision is to deliver services that embody a partnership between the research community and the Library at the intersection of research and information science. We envision a future where every Deakin researcher can navigate the complex and evolving landscape of scholarly communication, supported by the discipline-specific expertise of our librarians. We aspire to a scholarly communication ecosystem that is open, sustainable, and just.
Our areas of expertise
The Library provides services to the research community in six key areas of expertise:
- Expert searching: Developing complex searches to support literature reviews, evidence syntheses and hard-to-find materials, and using software to manage references.
- Research data management: Addressing the various aspects of planning for research data management to meet compliance obligations, both institutional and funding related.
- Copyright for research: Navigating the complexities of intellectual property, including co-creators, third-party works, and licensing and publishing agreements.
- Publishing and open access: Supporting strategies to publish research as openly as possible, including guidance on open access pathways without author-facing fees.
- Research outputs stewardship: Managing, describing and preserving the University’s research outputs in the institutional repository, Deakin Research Online (DRO).
- Research metrics: Providing quantitative and qualitative measures of research impact and quality to support funding applications, academic promotions and more.
