Permanent linking in Library Search

Did you know you can save or bookmark resources or search results in Library Search to access again later?

Bookmarking a Library Search results page as you would bookmark a regular webpage, by copying or saving the URL from the address bar, will not generally work. This is because the page URL is unique to your current browsing session and will not lead back to the same web location next time.

To avoid this issue, you can locate and save a link that will always lead back to the resource you have found – this is known as a permalink.

In Library Search, you can create a permalink to an entire search results list, or to a specific resource you have found.

Link to search results lists

To create a permalink to an entire search results list, open the ‘Share’ menu on the right hand side, and copy the permalink displayed.

Link to specific resources

To create a permalink to a specific resource you have found, click on the chain icon  shown to the right of the title in a search results list, or in the right hand menu on a specific resource page.
