We have developed a suite of workshops and presentations to support the Deakin academic community in searching, discovering and adopting OER. These workshops and presentations are available on-request for schools, faculties or other groups and can be adapted or combined to meet your specific needs.

10-20-min presentation
This presentation provides an introduction to Open Educational Resources (OER) for academics and academic support staff. In this presentation, we explore how OER are defined and how they align with Deakin’s values. We share examples of OER in practice and consider how they can be used to support teaching and learning needs.
60-min workshop
In this workshop, we explore the main platforms for finding OER textbooks and other resources to start developing a list of resources relevant to your unit needs. We discuss how the resources can be used in teaching and how to attribute resources you utilise.

This session demonstrates how AI-powered tools, such as Sylla, streamline the identification and adoption of relevant OER. Participants will see practical workflows for searching, filtering, and evaluating OER, guided by AI-assisted recommendations.

This session begins with a brief overview of OER, followed by a showcase of three examples of OER integration into learning and teaching practice at Deakin. The spotlight will share available evidence of the impact of OER use, including estimated cost savings. This session may be particularly relevant PD for education-focused academics.
