Content
This unit consists of an enhanced CloudDeakin experience that engages with the issues of sustainability in development contexts. The unit will explore the discourse of sustainability and how this is understood, thoerised and practiced in development programs and projects. The unit will interrogate the importance of sustainability across policy and practice and the significance of working closely with affected communiteis in order to achieve sustainable outcomes that are meaningful to the people concerned. The key issue of cross cultural competency and engagement will be explored through the use of simulation exercises and case studies and how this can and has influenced outcomes in development. Concepts such as complexity theory, sustainable development and ecological understandings will engage students in a critical debate on sustainability across diferent development contexts.
