Trimester 2: 1 x 2 hour seminar per week, 1 x 2 hour practical class per fortnight. In addition to seminars and practical classes, learning is supported by a series of online recordings of each topic's core learning objectives.

Content

This unit explores contemporary neurobiological explanations of human behaviour. Individual, social, ethical and practical implications are examined in the context of topics including: neural structure and function, psychopharmacology, biological methods, sensory systems, emotions, motor activity, sleep, mental disorders, language, memory and learning.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours) 50%, neuroanatomy assignment 20%, team presentations 20%, reflective piece (900 words) 10%

 

Fortnightly team presentation will take place in practical classes (in class for on campus students or online (vial ELive) for off campus students). Off campus students will require access to a computer-compatible microphone. Students (on and off campus) unable to participate in practicals may be eligible to receive an alternative assessment in which they submit a recording of their presentations.
