Content
This unit introduces students to the historical, philosophical and sociological perspectives of sport and exercise science where they will examine how and why science informs professionals in sport, exercise and health-related occupations. Students will also be introduced to the academic and professional disciplines of exercise physiology, motor learning, biomechanics, sport and exercise psychology and nutrition. This unit will also focus on the career pathways and professional development of sport and exercise scientists.Assessment
Assignment 1 - Exercise and Sport Science research paper (1000 words) 25%, assignment 2 - laboratory report x 1 (500 words) 12.5% practical examination x 1 (10 minutes) 12.5%, end of trimester examination (2 hours) 50%. Hurdle requirement: completion of Level 2 First Aid course at student's expense.Unit Fee Information
