Content
This unit will help students to understand the context of community health issues and needs, and apply the range of principles, processes and strategies to develop health promotion programs to address those issues and needs.
The unit will develop of the principles, approaches and important contextual factors that guide health promotion programs, and how to work with communities to empower them to undertake sustainable health actions. The unit will also develop your practical skills to plan, implement and sustain programs. The unit encompasses Work-Integrated-Learning (WIL) opportunities which give you opportunities to engage with practitioners in community agencies to learn about and work on real life issues.
The unit provides the basis for HSH218 Planning and Evaluation 2, which examines and practices how community based health promotion are evaluated.

Weekly readings 10%, individual community health needs assessment (1000 words) 30%, group-based community health program plan (2000 words) 60%
