HSH705 - Needs Assessment and Health Program Planning

Trimester 2: Burwood (Melbourne), CBD, Cloud (online)
Campus: 6 weekly cloud (online) classes through eLive plus 3 day seminar (Friday-Sunday)
Note:You will need to access substantial learning resources and experiences in CloudDeakin (Deakin’s online learning environment). Compliance with the Standards in computing, connectivity and student capability are a condition on your enrolment.
Topics include: overview of program planning and development (including approaches, models and frameworks), needs assessment, vision and goal setting, developing objectives, program design principles, determining content and strategies for programs, best practices, introduction to evaluation design and its link to planning (including process, impact and outcome), budgeting, sustainability, approaches to the management of programs, and an overview of some current debates regarding program planning and government policy and resource issues.
Assignment 1: Individual (2000 words) 40%
Assignment 2: Group presentation (20 minutes) 30%
Assignment 3: Individual (1500 words) 30%
