Content

Nutrition knowledge is continually changing and this provides challenges to those working in the field of nutrition with providing accurate information to individuals or groups. This unit will provide you with the skills to evaluate the relevant nutrition research literature. Topics to be covered in this unit: issues in measurement of food intake and nutritional status; research study designs including their strengths and weaknesses; basic statistics needed to interpret studies and interpretation and critical analysis of the various types of study designs. The study designs to be covered will include randomised controlled trials, cohort, case control, and cross sectional studies.
