This unit aims to provide students with an authentic experience of working as a consultant with an international organisation. In an increasingly global commercial environment, the ability to work with clients and teams situated across the world is an important and desirable graduate attribute. Students will develop their skills in liaising with external stakeholders in order to identify, understand and attempt to resolve real-world business problems, and develop an understanding of the processes and skills required to be a consultant in a global business environment. By undertaking this unit, students will practise ethical behaviour and develop their problem solving, self-management and interpersonal skills.
Students will critically reflect upon their experience, relevant graduate attributes and employability competencies through a progressive assessment process.
Interpret a client’s needs, develop strategies for addressing those needs and evaluate and justify solutions and contingencies

GLO6: Self-management
GLO2: Communication

Assessment 1: (Individual) Learning Portfolio designed around the WIL experience. A learning portfolio is comprised of a range of different assessment tasks. In this unit the portfolio consists of 4 assessment tasks, a team report and presentation to the client, an individual supervisor’s evaluation and an individual post placement skills and employability development report.
The group-based tasks do not constitute more than 50% of the overall assessment for the unit.

The assessment due weeks provided may change. The Unit Chair will clarify the exact assessment requirements, including the due date, at the start of the teaching period.
Students must successfully complete the WIL pre-placement modules before they can attain access to the unit dropboxes.
