Content
This unit is designed to prepare students to plan, teach and assess in the area of health education. Drawing on contemporary research, this unitspecifically is aimed at preparing students to teach engaging and inclusive health education across the primary/middle years and secondary schoolingand is designed to stimulate critical thinking about contemporary school-based health education relevant to the stages of schooling you are preparingto teach in. Using an evidenced based approach, the unit willexamine the health and wellbeing of young people; histories andpedagogies of health education; program, curriculum and assessment development; and health promoting schools as a school-based model. Specific pedagogical content knowledge and highly effective classroomteaching strategies for health education that are aligned to support positive student learning in health education are a key focus of this unit.
