Educator-facilitated (scheduled) learning activities - on-campus unit enrolment: | 8 x 3 hour seminars delivered across the trimester. Learning activities are offered on-campus. Each week is linked to a chapter of the honours thesis (Introduction, literature review, methods, quantitative data analysis, qualitative data analysis, results, discussion and conclusion). Some students will attend both weeks of data analysis while others will attend only one of these weeks depending on their research design. Honours students are also expected to liaise with their supervisors on a regular basis. |
Typical study commitment: | Students will on average spend 450 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site. |
Content
The Research Project aims to provide students with the opportunity to pursue, under supervision, an independent investigation and to complete a minor thesis. This unit enables the students to collect and analyse data, to complete a research project, and to present findings in oral and written forms. Students will make appropriate preparation for data collection including contact with participants as appropriate; engage in data collection, data management and analysis; reflect on their role as researchers; update the review of pertinent literature; complete their data collection and analysis, draft and finalise their thesis document.
