Content
This unit will cover the importance of considerations such as cost, environmental impact and global environment in the selection of a manufacturing process. The impact of processing variables such as pressure and temperature will be studied on the quality, structure and final product specification for commonly used manufacturing processes such as casting, moulding, extrusion and metal working.
Assessment
Demonstration reports 20%, design project 40%, examination 40%. To be eligible to obtain a pass in this unit, students must achieve a mark of at least 40% in the examination.
