Concrete structures formed the majority of civil engineering structures and most of civil engineers will be dealing with concrete during their career. This unit will address advanced topics in structural design of concrete structures and their behaviour during service life and according to the Australian design codes. It examines various design parameters, flexural design of reinforced concrete columns and walls using Australian design code AS-3600, design of footings and retaining walls. Fundamental concepts for design procedures will be introduced through design workshops and projects.
