Students will on average spend 150 hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

Scheduled learning activities - cloud:

Participation is highly recommended in at least 2 of the scheduled 1 hour Blackboard Collaborate Sessions over the trimester.

8-10 hours of online/located group/individual research activities and fieldwork over the trimester.

Content

This unit focuses on designing and teaching active and engaging higher education programs that are responsive to the many contemporary challenges impacting providers in Australia and internationally. It utilises a practice-oriented approach to explore the core knowledge and professional values that inform effective program design and teaching in higher education. The unit applies theories of curriculum design and higher education pedagogy to develop a deeper understanding of teaching practice in higher education, with a particular focus on the design of inclusive learning programs, teaching for active learning, the effective use of digital tools to support learning, and the development of an evidence-informed reflective approach to improving practice and ongoing professional learning
