Students will on average spend 150-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

This unit aims at further developing students' practical skills to use the Chinese language and improving their understanding of how the Chinese language works. Emphasis will be placed on the practical language use in both written and oral forms. Topics to be covered include a range of social and cultural issues and current affairs. In addition to textbooks, materials will also be drawn from contemporary writing, newspapers and journal articles.
Evaluate ways in which culturally embedded discourse intersects with theoretical and technical knowledge of the Chinese language system

Analyse information and express personal opinions in Chinese clearly and naturally in a range of contexts, using correct grammar, syntax, pronunciation and sociolinguistic practices

Critically evaluate linguistic and sociolinguistic problems and use individual initiative to apply knowledge of Chinese language study to develop a range of strategies for solving the problems
Critically evaluate the cultural diversity of the societies that use Chinese language, and ethically apply principles of social responsibility when considering them in domestic, regional, and global contexts
