Content

Our world is facing several existential challenges; but there is little doubt climate change is one of, if not the biggest looming threat to our current way of life. Consequently, businesses have increasingly started to prioritise sustainability initiatives and adapting their practices to a new climate-normal. Companies are often confronted with new climate policies and events like emissions reduction targets, carbon prices, increased uncertainty due to elevated magnitude and frequency of extreme disaster events giving birth to a paradigm shift in business decision making. To enable our graduates to navigate these changing times, this unit will explore key business decision making tools and concepts including:

  • A new business paradigm to address climate change
  • Methods of valuing environmental intangibles
  • Key concepts of environmental cost-benefit analysis (eCBA)
  • Government interventions like emissions reduction target and carbon pricing
  • Internal organisational Environment, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) strategies
  • National and international climate negotiations
