Typical study commitment:

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

Scheduled learning activities - campus:

3 x three-hour seminar per week for 3 weeks

A two-week study tour to Hanoi, Vietnam where students will do an internship at a local company in a group of 3.

Scheduled learning activities - online:

Online independent and collaborative learning activities aided by recorded seminars.

The contact hours are equivalent to on campus students which is 9 hours per week intensive for 3 weeks followed by a two-week study tour.

Content

This unit introduces students to issues in corporate governance; advanced capital budgeting; real options; valuations; equity and debt financing; capital structure and mergers and acquisitions.

This unit also includes a study tour component where student work on their major project.

The assessment due weeks provided may change. The Unit Chair will clarify the exact assessment requirements, including the due date, at the start of the teaching period.

Hurdle requirement

Hurdle requirement: Achieve at least 40% of the marks available on all assessment tasks to evidence a minimum proficiency in the aligned finance discipline learning outcomes included in this unit. Successfully complete the professional literacy module to gain access to the assignment dropbox.
