Content

This unit concentrates on the role of nutrition in development and control of major lifestyle diseases that affect the health. Students will build a knowledge base on aetiology and pathophysiology of major lifestyle diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and mental health. Then understand the role of nutrients, diet and dietary patterns in development and control of these diseases. Students will also learn how to understand, interpret and critically appraise current nutrition research.
