Catherine is a Senior Research Fellow at Deakin University, where she co-leads the economics of obesity group.
Catherine's research is primarily focussed on the economics and epidemiology of obesity. Catherine's research includes cost-effectiveness analyses of obesity prevention and treatment interventions, obesity (and related diseases) healthcare use and cost studies, obesity health outcomes and quality of life studies and assessment of epidemiological trends in obesity including socioeconomic differences.
Catherine has published her research in leading peer-reviewed journals including JAMA, Diabetes Care, Inter. J Obesity, The Lancet Diabetes Endocrinology and JAMA Surgery.
Catherine's career highlights include the publication of the first-ever trial-based cost-effectiveness analyses of surgically-induced weight loss as a treatment for obese subjects with type 2 diabetes. She has also collaborated with the prestigious Swedish Obese Subjects study to publish a study on the observed healthcare in obese subjects use after bariatric surgery or conventional therapy over 20 years.
