Your Deakin offer through VTAC

Preparing to accept your offer

Your offer email will contain your Deakin Student ID number and the information you need to accept your place and enrol. Your offer email is sent the same day you receive your offer notification from VTAC. If you haven't received it in the next two business days, please let us know.

In the meantime, you can prepare to accept your offer by doing the following things.

  • To accept and enrol, you'll need a Unique Student Identifier (USI), an individual education number issued by the Australian Government. If you're planning to accept a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) and defer your fees to HECS-HELP (if you are eligible), you'll also need a Tax File Number (TFN). Make sure you have these numbers handy before you begin the enrolment process.
  • Read our plan your course resources. You can also access your course entry in the University Handbook and download your course map.

When you have your offer email and these numbers, you’ll be ready commence the process to accept and enrol.

Once you have accepted your place and made all the necessary arrangements, we will send you more details on how to enrol.

Other options

Defer

If you need to, you can postpone starting your course at Deakin. This is called deferring – it allows you to keep your place at university for up to one year. If you intend to defer, you should not enrol in your course. If you are interested commencing study in a future study period, you can learn more about how to defer your offer or complete the VTAC deferral of offer form now.

Decline

If you have questions about your offer or you're unsure if you will accept, we're here to support you. You can speak with one of our student advisers who can help you decide. If you decide you would like to decline your offer, please notify us using the online form.

Multiple offers

If you’ve received multiple offers (from Deakin or from other institutions), now is the time to decide which course you want to enrol in. It is important that you choose which offer/s you’re going to accept, and defer or decline your other offers – for example, if you accept and enrol in a course at Deakin, you will have to decline any other offers you've received from other institutions by following their process. Similarly, if you accept and enrol in a course but then change your mind and take up a new offer (at Deakin or elsewhere), you need to withdraw from the first course so you don’t incur any fees for it.
