We are the first point of contact for day-to-day employment activities, providing advice, interpretation and support services relating to terms and conditions of employment, including policy, procedure, Enterprise Agreement, immigration, processes and systems (DeakinPeople).
HR Partnering and Analytics
We provide advice and services to senior managers in the areas of strategic workforce planning, performance management, organisational restructures and complex employment matters. We also design and deliver interactive dashboards and reports that provide managers with real-time data and trends across a range of workforce attributes to enable better workforce
Supporting the health and wellbeing of staff is our priority. We provide programs, advice, support and coordination of injury management and return to work services for staff members with work-related and non work-related injuries, illnesses and disabilities. We also implement health and wellbeing initiatives that are designed to promote early intervention, awareness, understanding and support to staff in managing their mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing.
Recruitment and Mobility
We support the University with all aspects of best practice, customer-focused recruitment and strategies that attract and retain the best talent into the organisation, as well as enable fair and transparent internal mobility avenues for existing Deakin employees. We can provide advice and support to appoint and ensure retention of senior staff. We also manage vendor relationships with recruitment agencies, pre-employment assessment providers, job boards and media advertising.
HR Strategy and Development
We design, develop and deliver strategic programs and initiatives to grow the capability of Deakin’s workforce and enhance the staff experience, while providing a center of excellence for organisational development, HR projects, communications and change management.
We manage all functions and queries relating to staff pay and superannuation.
Remuneration, Benefits and Evaluation
We develop and implement remuneration and benefits strategies and frameworks for the University, and provide remuneration advice to Executive and Senior Managers. We also perform job evaluations, benchmark data and liaise with independent consultants and industry colleagues to monitor competitive remuneration trends and conduct remuneration reviews.
We provide advice and support to HR and the University on complex employment and industrial matters that involve application of University policy and procedure, employment contracts and workplace legislation. We also participate in the negotiation, implementation and application of the University Enterprise Agreement.
We are responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of HR systems, including Deakin’s HR Management System (DeakinPeople/DeakinRecruit).
Office of the Executive Director
We work collaboratively with HR teams and areas across the University to develop and deliver HR strategies, initiatives, policies and procedures, designed to foster a vibrant and inclusive culture and contribute to the positive experience of working at Deakin.
