In Conversation

In Conversation is a three-part workshop for Year 11 students that busts study habit myths, providing tools for managing stress and exploring alternative pathways.

Program overview

Students will have the opportunity to explore three different topics of importance in VCE, study habits, wellbeing and pathways, and be able to learn from current university students’ experiences. These workshops are centred around Deakin students sharing their tips, tricks, failures and successes.

Each workshop includes the exploration and discussion of key topics, with an open Q&A session, where students are presented with the opportunity to ask current university students questions.

In Conversation aims to enable students to:

  • explore how the mind works, focusing on using technology to support study
  • discuss mindfulness, understanding and dealing with exam stress
  • explore the multiple alternative pathways to university.

School requirements

Individual schools are required to:

  • organise students for program participation
  • maintain responsibility for student conduct, behaviour, and medical issues.

of students agreed the workshops made them think about attending university

After conversations with current Deakin students, Year 11 students were able to share tips and explore lessons from failure to success. The vast majority agreed that the experience helped them consider going to university.
