Content
The unit introduces students to professional publishing practices across print and digital media. It presents an overview of the contemporary publishing industry, helps students understand how authors’ proposals for publication are reviewed by editors, explains the underlying economics of the industry, and examines new publishing trends. It also considers important issues in publishing, such as copyright and defamation, inclusivity and diversity, and how digital technology has affected readers, writers, and publishers. Students will develop a book proposal or publisher’s list that will help them understand the process of publishing.
