Content
This unit provides an orientation to the Professional Experience placement and to the role of a teacher. It will prepare PSTs for the shift from learner to novice teacher through an examination of pedagogical theory and critical discussions of teacher identity formation and of teacher professionalism.
The influence of personal experience and background, theory, pedagogy, policy and curriculum on educational aims and beliefs; ‘noticing’ learners and learning; and the ethical and legal codes and responsibilities of the teaching profession are explored.
