Content
Critical analysis of Victorian contemporary research is used in this unit to explore and engage in the ideas of biology. Teachers’ ability to create and evaluate innovative, differentiated science teaching and learning sequences focused on local, contemporary, and often socially related issues, is developed and assessed. Inquiry approaches catering to diverse learners and cultural awareness are foregrounded and modelled through seminar tasks and assessments and through application of the cross-curriculum priorities: Sustainability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Histories and Cultures and general capabilities. The science inquiry skills are practiced in the unit through investigations and practical activities leading to the development of student voice and active participation towards a more sustainable future.
