International Student Advisers
We have International Student Advisers (ISAs) on every campus. They have lived and studied in other countries and have experienced firsthand the cultural and social adjustments required. They can provide general support to you during your studies, as well as offer advice on:
- getting a new CoE/visa
- visa conditions relating to enrolment requirements
- work restrictions
- leave of absence approval
- crisis management.
They are also available to support under 18 students.
ISAs can provide support and advice in person, online or over the phone. You can book a private appointment or simply drop-in to the International Student Support Centre on your campus during contact hours for a 15 minute consultation.
Clubs and societies
Joining a club is a great way to meet new people. As well as clubs for all kinds of courses, sports and interests, we have many international-focused groups too.
Right now at Deakin there are dedicated clubs for students who are of Chinese, Sri Lankan, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Japanese, Malaysian or African descent. And you can always start your own if you want to.
Events for international students
Many of our events and programs have a focus on international students. These events can help you learn new language skills, meet other international students, or simply enjoy a new and different culture.
