What can I do to keep my non-digital data safe?

Consider the conditions in which you will store the data. Will these affect data durability? Storage areas should be climate-stable and structurally sound. It should also be free of risks such as pests, flood and fire.

Use lockable storage rooms and cabinets. Keep records of who is able to access the data (holders of keys, swipe cards). Use check-in/check-out procedures if removing data on a regular basis from the secure area.

Label data, and ensure it is well organised and accessible to authorised researchers. Ensure that the storage location will be available for the extent of time that the non-digital data must be stored.
