Deakin scores well in Learning and Teaching Performance Fund

Deakin University has been awarded over $2.59 million in funding from the Federal Government's Learning and Teaching Performance Fund (LTPF) for 2009. This places Deakin ninth in the country and third in Victoria in terms of funding received.

Deakin was one of only 11 universities in Australia to receive a Band A1 or A2 ranking in all four discipline groups, demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement to the quality of its teaching.

Deakin was also ranked in Band A2 for the discipline group of Business, Law and Economics.

Professor John Rosenberg, Deakin University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), congratulated all of Deakin's staff on the result. "This encouraging outcome is the result of the strong focus on teaching and learning quality that is now embedded across the University. It clearly demonstrates the commitment of Deakin's staff to teaching excellence and student outcomes," he said.

Professor Rosenberg added that Deakin was not complacent and would continue to improve and strive for excellence in teaching and learning. The funding provided under the LTPF will assist the University with the implementation of its Teaching and Learning Plan.
