Law lecturer and homelessness advocate receives leadership award

Deakin University's law lecturer and homelessness advocate James Farrell has received an Australian Leadership Award from the ADC Forum, conferred in part for his vision of an inclusive Australia.

The Australian Leadership Awards provide an opportunity for new-generation leaders to be recognised for their achievements and contributions to shaping Australia's future. .

Recipients attend the ADC Future Summit where Australia's established and emerging leaders share ideas, exchange views and create defined outcomes to improve Australia's future.

Mr Farrell said he was humbled but excited to receive the award.

"This award recognises that communities working on important social issues like homelessness is a real demonstration of leadership," Mr Farrell said.

"Leadership isn't always about being the visible, powerful person running an organisation or business.

"Sometimes, leadership is about having a vision about the type of society we want to live in, and working with others to achieve that vision."
