Deakin continues rise in world rankings

Deakin has confirmed its position inside the world’s top 300 universities, according to the latest prestigious QS World University Rankings, released today.

Deakin now ranks at number 271 in the world after first entering the top 300 two years ago. The latest ranking places Deakin in the top 1.1 per cent of universities in the world and cements the university in the top two per cent of universities in each of the three major global rankings, which also includes the ARWU and Times Higher Education (THE).

Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander AO congratulated the Deakin community on its achievement.

"Deakin is committed to supporting the communities we serve through providing the best teaching and research possible, and today’s rankings show that if you value staff and build a clear and comprehensive strategy towards your goals, the results follow," Professor den Hollander said.

"The QS rankings have further enhanced Deakin's reputation as focussed on excellence, providing the jobs of the future and supporting our students to provide the best experience possible."

The QS World University Rankings focus on six key indicators – Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Student to Faculty ratio, International Faculty, and International Students.

Professor den Hollander noted that Deakin was particularly successful in the areas of Academic Reputation (280 in the world), Employer Reputation (208), International Faculty (114) and International Students (156).
