Deakin University is delighted to announce our foundation UK Alumni Chapter Committee:

  • Mr Pasan Muthumala, President
  • Mr Trevor Dean, Vice President
  • Miss Diana Marini, Treasurer.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Jane den Hollander AO, visited London in July 2016 and officially launched the UK Alumni Chapter. This event was the second of our annual networking events, with the 2017 event to be announced shortly. Through these events, and other chapter initiatives, we hope to connect our UK-based alumni through meaningful activity.

Find out more about our UK Alumni Chapter Committee:

Pasan Muthumala

After a six-week Contiki stint in 2008, Pasan took a year off from his employer and left Australia in 2009 for more European travels. After eight years, he's still in London. Pasan recently got married and managed to convince his wife to move from Queensland to London. Pasan is currently doing an MBA and works in the medical imaging industry (Healthcare Technology). His hobbies include competitive swimming for a club in London, and in open water swims.

Pasan is really excited to be part of the committee, along with Diana and Trevor, and we looks forward to organising events to meet the rest of the alumni in the UK.

Diana Marini

Diana graduated from Deakin in 2002, completing a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction. During her time at Deakin she also served as a Faculty Representative.

Diana started her career on the ANZ Banking Group's Graduate Program directly after graduating from Deakin and has gone on to hold senior roles with a Product Management and Strategy focus within banking.

Diana has been based in London for several years and enjoys travelling, singing and community projects. She holds several community committee positions, and mentors youth within her local parish.

Trevor Dean

Trevor graduated from Deakin in 2004, completing a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction, majoring in PR and Journalism. Although enrolled at Deakin’s Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, he also spent a semester abroad studying PR and Marketing in Arhus, Denmark.

Trevor has enjoyed a wide variety of career experiences, holding senior event management and community engagement roles – managing major events, government protocols and VIP visits, stakeholder engagement and consultation projects, PR/CSR/Marketing campaigns and managing major sponsorships, corporate partnerships and community relations activities.

Trevor has previously held several Board Directorships in both the Charitable and Arts sectors, and with several Professional Industry and Member Associations.

Trevor and his partner recently relocated from Melbourne to live and work in London, and to be closer to family and friends in Europe.

Over recent months, the committee has been meeting and planning opportunities for Deakin Alumni, and will share more of their vision and future plans, including at upcoming networking events – details to be announced soon.

Please join us in welcoming Pasan, Trevor and Diana, and of course, don’t hesitate to engage with them, and lend your support in helping to create a dynamic Deakin Alumni community in the UK.

If you are in the UK and interested in connecting, please contact the Alumni Relations Office via email.
