Melbourne property market event

Alumni news

24 June 2019

The Alumni Relations Team and Deakin University Community Bank ® (DUCB) were delighted to present a panel discussion on the Melbourne property market in May. The response to this event was overwhelmingly positive, selling out in 24 hours with over 130 alumni attending on the day.

The overarching sentiment of the panel discussion was positive for Melbourne residential property, with a caveat that entering the market will remain a challenge for first home buyers.

Guests enjoyed the robust discussion mediated by David Tudor, Head of University Partnerships at Bendigo Bank. Panellists Tony Crabb, National Director of Research at Cushman and Wakefield, David Robertson, Head of Economic and Market Research at Bendigo Bank, and Thomas Keel, Associate Lecturer in the Department of Finance in Deakin Business School, captivated the audience with their insight and analysis.

Bendigo Bank and Deakin have an important steadfast partnership through DUCB. This partnership provides a great range of banking products with personalised service to the broader Deakin community, with profits from the initiative reinvested back to Deakin through the provision of scholarships, research grants, internships and funding for sustainable infrastructure projects.

We have seen an exceptional return after only two years of this initiative; DUCB has reinvested A$150,000 to date and A$80,000 is committed towards Deakin University scholarships.

Thank you to everyone who attended this event and we look forward to seeing many more of our alumni at future events.
